Six ways that area residents
and landowners can participate
in the preservation of this
amazing landscape
1. Become a Land Trust volunteer. Attend the meetings. Contact us for meeting times or check the Crestone Eagle.
2. Make a tax deductible donation to the Crestone/Baca Land Trust.
3. Place a conservation easement on your property. Conservation easements remove the building rights from the property which in turn reduces the value of the land. A conservation easement can be designed for your specific needs and tax benefits. Check with your tax advisor.
4. Donate your property to the Land Trust. There are tax advantages to making a donation. Please check with your tax advisor.
5. Trade your property. To preserve the conservation areas, you can trade your lot for a lot in a less fragile area of the Baca.
6. Consolidate your multiple lots. Reduce density by consolidating multiple lots into one building lot. Lot consolidation may result in financial and tax benefits for the landowner. |
